Congress Approves Final Changes to Health Reform

Last night, the House of Representatives passed a final health insurance reform bill by a vote of 220 to 207, bringing a year-long legislative process to an end. The bill makes final improvements to the historic health reform President Obama signed into law on Tuesday. The Los Angeles Times reports: The end came after a grueling night and day of roll-call votes as Republicans sought to derail the bill

House Rules Committee Releases Final Health Reform Bill

Earlier today, the House Rules Committee posted the final health reform legislation online, a 153-page bill that makes a number of changes to the Senate bill that was voted on in December. The Washington Post reported : The House Rules Committee on Thursday posted the final element of President Obama’s health-care package, clearing the way for a climactic vote in the House, which will most likely occur on Sunday. The Congressional Budget Office reported earlier in the day that the legislation would provide health insurance coverage for 32 million people by 2016 at a 10- year cost of $940 billion.

Today marks the fifth day of the Final March for Reform. All weekend long, OFA volunteers have been gathering at phone banks across the country to call voters in critical districts, asking them to call their representatives in support of health reform.
